When to consider Wire EDM
Wire EDM is useful for conductive materials, narrow profiles, internal slots, hard metals and shapes that are difficult to cut with a rotating tool.
Files and notes to include
- 2D profile drawings with critical dimensions.
- Material thickness and heat treatment state.
- Start-hole permission and edge condition requirements.
Review focus
The RFQ review checks wire access, corner radius expectations, part holding, slug removal and whether a machined or ground preform is required.
