Machining risks

The ring flange has many holes distributed around a curved surface. If the datum is not stable, the angular relationship between holes and side openings may drift. The window openings reduce local rigidity, so clamping force and toolpath order need attention.

Burrs around window corners and threaded holes are a practical risk. Deburring must clean sharp edges without damaging the sealing or mounting faces.

A practical route is roughing the cylindrical blank, finishing the flange faces, machining side windows with controlled support, drilling and tapping the hole pattern, then deburring and surface finishing. First-piece inspection should confirm flange flatness, hole position and window edge quality.

Q3: Can the side windows be cut first?

Only if the process keeps enough support. In many cases, datum faces and main ring geometry should be controlled before large openings are finished.
